Today's Lesson
One of the most valuable tips I can give you in the kitchen is to be
prepared. This is called mise en place
(everything in it's place)
AND to clean as you go.
This is working smarter... not harder and helps you move in the kitchen like a chef!
Set up your work space before you start cooking with a cutting board that is stable. You can achieve this by wetting a towel, using a rubber shelf liner or silicone mat. Then get 2 bowls - one for garbage and one for finished products that you are done working with. I also like to work with a bench scrapper to make items that you have chopped easier to "scoop up" and put in the bowl or fry pan.
Remember:
Always have your knives as sharp as your mind before you begin.
